Amphibious cars generally either have the turn of speed of a small bungalow or the aesthetics of a sherman tank, so we were quite taken aback when we saw pictures of the Aquada amphibious car.
Gibbs, who make the Aquada, cite it as the world''s first High Speed Amphibian,, and at over 100mph on land and 30mph on water, I am certainly not going to argue with them. In fact, if anyone does argue the point all Gibbs have to do is wave their copy of the Guinness book of records, as the Aquada currenly holds the world speed record for an amphibious vehicle!
In fact, the only thing I have to say against the Aquada is that Richard Branson has one! That said, he did use it to smash the world record for crossing the channel in an amphibious vehicle.
Why is it pointless?
Unless you live on an island, you probably just want one to show off!
Why is it cool?
Motoring up to a busy beach and driving up the sand has to be one of the best ways to show off that there is!
