Aaah... those fond memories of youth. Hunching in the corner of a pub , blowing my pocket money 10p at a time whilst Dad enjoyed a pint. It all came flooding back when I saw the Lounge Lizard Arcade Table.
This isn't a 1980's original, but a replica that has been had it's insides replaced with the sort of kit that would have blown my mind back in the days when Space Invaders were king.
The outside is fully faithful to the original 80s consoles with flip-screen two player mode, coin op (which you can bypass if you are being kind to your mates) and authentic smoked glass top.
Internally though it has all been brought up to date with a fully functioning PC inside. One great advantage of this is that you are not just stuck with one game, but can play any of the twenty-odd retro-titles included or download more from the web.
If the worse comes to the worse, you can even use it as a conventional PC, although why you would want to do that when they have "Street Fighter II" at their finger-tips, I will never know.
Why is it pointless?
If you already have both a PC and a coffee table then you have the bases covered.
Why is it cool?
You''re getting cool games, a cool console, a PC and a replica of the coolest coffee table ever invented.
