The Desktop Rover is no ordinary radio controlled vehicle. It's tiny 4" shell hides a sophistication that makes it way too much fun to simply waste on the kids.
Each tank is fully equipped to provide "laser tag" style remote control action. Up to four rovers can power around your chosen arena trying to score hits on one another with their IR cannons. If a tank gets hit 10 times it's game over (at least until it's owner resets it with a flick of the power switch).
If that isn't enough, you can also get an optional "telecommander" package that lets you control your rover via PC or even over the Internet - meaning that you and your enemy don't even have to be in the same building.
Why is it pointless?
The Desktop Rover is a stunning piece of microtechnolgy, the ingenuity of which should probably be put to better use.
Why is it cool?
Minature warfare is a much more entertaining use of desk-space than work.
