The Laserpod has been hailed as the lava lamp of the new millennium, which hardly seems to do justice to the incredible light show the Laserpod is capable of producing.
Invented by UK light artist (nice job title) Chris Levine, the Laserpod is pretty much as the name would suggest: A pod with lasers in it. But flick the power on and the unassuming beer can sized base unit throws out a ballet of dancing lights previously not-witnessed by those without a penchant for halluciogenic drugs.
The Laserpod also comes with a couple of differently sized diffusers. Pop one of these on the top of the unit and the light get's contained within the diffusers making a moder age lava lamp-esque centre piece (just much more animated and believe it or not - even more trippy).
The light itself comes from three lasers and three blue and purple LEDs. The result is an incredibly organic range of continually changing light that is hard to describe and even harder to capture on photo or video.
You'll just have to try it out for yourself.
Why is it pointless?
You'll end up staring at it for hours
Why is it cool?
It's mesmorsing, trippy and really hard to describe
