MP3 players are great. You can listen to your favourite tunes on the move without having to lug around your CD collection. But what if you don't want to lug around an MP3 player? What you need is a pair of Oakley Thump MP3 sunglasses, a wearable MP3 player built into an ever-cool pair of Oakley sunnies.
According to the marketing hype, Oakley Thumps are sunglasses and aren't a wearable MP3 player, but are "Advanced Cranial Hardware" - which is probably as good a reason as any to legalise the culling of marketing execs. Ludicrous tag-lines aside, the thumps are an ice-cool alternative to the growing cliche of an iPod.
Those who like the techie bits will want to know that the Thumps come is 2 capacities: 128mb and 256mb and give you up to 6 hours music playback time. Those interested in style more than performance will probably be more interested to know that they come is a range of colours including Tortoise, Black Iridium, Rootbeer and Night Camo (yup - those marketing guys are back).
You won't need a neck like Schwarzenegger to wear these either. Total weight is a shade over 50g, which is less than an empty CD case, making these a wearable pair of shades (sorry - "Advanced Cranial Hardware") as well as the coolest looking MP3 player around.
Why is it pointless?
Probably not at their most useful for listening to music in the dark (although the lenses do flip up gull wing style)
Why is it cool?
Cool sunnies + Cool mp3 player
